CASE STUDY: BRANDON
RehabWorks plays instrumental role in avoiding treatment failure:
Problem 1: Client doesn't believe marijuana is a problem
Problem 2: Client is homesick and wants to leave treatment early
Problem 1: Brandon's mother completed Module I the day he checked into treatment. This put her in the position of knowing how to respond when he said that he didn't think he has a problem because he just smokes pot.
Problem 2. The videos in Module III showed Brandon's mother what the treatment process looks like, how long it should take, and how to avoid common pitfalls—like the client wanting to leave before they're ready.
Problems 1 & 2. Having completed the "Transition Checklist Worksheet" before Brandon said he wanted to leave helped Brandon's mother know that he was in no way ready to leave.
SUMMARY
Brandon's case illustrates how RehabWorks provides a framework for treatment success through the process of Modules I-III:
Module I: Empowerment (Learning what the problem is)
Module II: Action (Setting healthy boundaries)
Module III: Efficacy (Measuring treatment progress
A Solid Foundation
Brandon ended up staying in treatment four more weeks after his initial request to leave. Continuing to use RehabWorks helped Brandon's mother understand the various elements that go into an effective discharge plan, and as a result of everybody working together, they had a solid plan in place by the time Brandon transitioned into the next level of care.
